Christian McBride Big Band A Taste of Honey
Hi Eddie B.:
I live down the hill from the LMU campus,, and earlier tonight I caught your jazz program for the very first time. A lot of great music, but I have a couple of questions:
1.) you had a small contest where you played a tune featuring a jazz vibraphonist, and listeners had to call in and guess who it was. I missed the answer, so I'd like to know who this artist was, and the name of the track.
2.) you played a Christian McBride big band track "A Taste of Honey", but on the online playlist it lists "Walking on the Moon"...
Thanks!
Mike

Hey Mike!
First and foremost, thanks for tuning-in. I certainly hope you'll be on every "flight" from here on out. Don't forget, I'll be on every Sunday 7pm - 8pmPST, so please tell your friends to tune-in (www.kxlu.com if they're out of the LA area).
Now, to your questions. The vibraphonist was Warren Wolf and I played his tune 427 Mass Ave. That's a new release, and Wolf's an outstanding musician. He's on the Mack Avenue label, which is a really, really good label. Second, I did play another Christian McBride Big Band cut, but neglected to post the last few songs on the site before I signed-out. I've since updated the list to reflect the other tunes I played. The Walking on the Moon arrangement was from a previous release of McBride's, but A Taste of Honey is a new release. Actually, McBride, literally, just came out with a new disc that's pretty interesting. Essentially, it's a collection of duets he's doing with various artists. Check it out! In fact, I'll try to play some music from it next week. Again, thanks for tuning-in, and I look forward to having you in First Class next week.
Kindly,
Eddie B.
