At the risk of embarrassing myself and my guests, tonight's guest plays such an enormous role in the development of the way that I seek out, listen to and enjoy music and has been for more years than I care to relate. Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock and his long term girlfriend Naheed are in the studio tonight expressing the roller coaster that is a 6 year long distance relationship through other people's art by way of mix tapes. I hope you enjoy the show!
Here are the mixes:
Naheed's Mix For Isaac
Silver Jews - How To Rent A Room
Murder City Devils - Rum To Whiskey
Pete Doherty and Carlos Barat - Stix and Stones
Talking Heads - This Must Be The Place
Built To Spill - Else
Rolling Stones - Heaven
Gang of Four - Damaged Goods
Eagles of Death Metal - I Only Want You
The Walkmen - The Rat
Mason Jennings - Crown
Kings of Leon - Milk
Isaac's Mix For Naheed
Bonnie Prince Billy - A King At Night
Man Man - Van Helsing Boombox
Love as Laughter - Miss Direction
The Damned - Smash It Up Pt. II
Mason Jennings - Nothing
The Shady Hands - Gonna Hold You Tonight
GD - Friend Of The Devil
White Hassle - Life Is Still Sweet
Mimicking Birds - Cabin Fever
Hank Williams Sr. - Ramblin' Man
Songs: Ohia - Soul 2
Thanks Josh for having us on the show...it was super fun and we liked staring at your facial expressions in response to when we spoke our nonsense. The pre-show Beatles Rock Band jam party was pretty stellar too...and you are an amazing cook.

What a cool concept for a show. I used to dj at KXLU and now am a professor there at LMU - if I'd known this was going to be on, I might have come up with some dumb excuse to stop by the station. I'll definitely be listening for this Sunday's installment!

Thanks for all the good music guys! Take care of yourself (yourselves?). Dig the show Josh, will be keeping up on it.

I've considered using Cabin Fever in a mix for a girlfriend before, it's funny how Isaac uses pretty much every band he's signed to Glacial Pace on his. On Don't Move Here he was talking about how to sign a band he had to really believe in the music... looks like he means it.
also, Naheed opening with (or even using) Silver Jews automatically gained my respect.
